About Me

Welcome to The Joy of Giving. My name is Joy Weise and I’m using my experience of meeting people both through my work at the Children’s Hospital at the QMC, and through my travels, to help my community and others by raising funds and awareness of important issues.
I’ve always enjoyed travelling and gaining new knowledge about different cultures and lifestyles. I am passionate about helping people in need, and I don’t concern myself with politics of why poverty exists in the world; I just want to help people.
I know I cannot stop world poverty or change the way people think or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit for my community and the wider world, and I invite you to join me. I want to live a life where I think about people who are close to me, and to help those further afield who need help. Giving material goods is not always the answer – sometimes what people need is practical support, for someone to listen to them, and to understand where they are at.
I like to find out about people’s lives and how they manage with day to day things, and to show I care for them. I want people to feel acknowledged, and to know that people in other parts of the world care about them too – they have not been forgotten.
I’m inspired by people I have met – by their determination, their hope for a better future, coping with their losses, their illnesses – despite a lack of resources. I also admire the strength they gain from their individual faiths.
What I would like to achieve from my fundraising events is to help The Nottingham Children’s Hospital Bereavement Services, which is part of QMC, to buy resources that are not available at present. These resources will help hospital staff support families in lots of different practical and emotional ways before and after the death of a child.
I invite you to join me in supporting these causes.
From my heart to yours, Joy

Travel, as much as you can, as far as you can, for as long as you can.
Life is meant to be explored.
We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls.
